The game seats you in the latest model, the Interceptor, a highly armored vehicle capable of morphing into a motorcycle or jet boat on the fly. Your task, as an agent for the International Espionage Services, is to drive fast and shoot things. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot to the game, but really that's all there needs to be. Control of the vehicle is very responsive without feeling touchy. Weapon management and deployment is also easy to handle, with single buttons being assigned to "weapon select" and to "fire." The stages all are designed for high speeds with wide tracks and very few tight corners. Jumps, tunnels, and shortcuts are all in abundance. "Spy Hunter's" visuals are very solid and very smooth. Models are all complete and well textured, water swells and parts as your boat cuts through it, and explosions bring moments of fiery joy to the screen. No mater how thick the action gets, there is never any slowdown. Add to this a nice use of lighting, transparencies, and reflections.
